THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE
This is a session where I incorporate various massage modalities including: Therapeutic Deep Tissue/Sports, Swedish, Orthopedic, Trigger Point, Myofascial Release, PNF Stretching, ect. I will mix the different massage techniques based on your unique needs and wants for that particular session to session. Since I am using a variety of different massage techniques, your body will allow the mechanisms of what is called “rest and digest” which will override the stressed out parts of your body that are stuck in ‘fight or flight’. As always, I only use high quality hypoallergenic lotions in this and all my sessions.
Deep Tissue Massage (Myofascial Release)
Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage, but it goes a bit farther. Deep tissue massage will target the inner layers of your muscles, tendons, and dense connective tissue (also known as fascia). In a deep tissue massage session I use many of the same stroking and kneading movements as in the Signature Relaxation Massage, only I will be using far more pressure. Deep tissue massage is usually best suited for athletes and runners, as well as people dealing with injuries. However, it can also be beneficial for people with chronic pain conditions such as low back pain. This service is most specifically for clients with goals of targeting muscle release and improving flexibility, reducing pain and increasing range of motion.
Sports Massage
Similar to deep tissue work, this massage will target areas that have been holding tension and are that are in need of improved flexibility. To be clear - this session will not be a nice relaxing trip to La La Land. You will be communicating throughout the session about pressure and stretching limits, you will be moving around and you will also be an active participant in some of the stretches. You will also most likely get recommended “homework” to maintain the work performed during the session. People who come in for sports massage should also be prepared to come more regularly than other clients. 1-2 times per week until desired outcome is achieved is what I usually recommend.
THAI STYLE MAT BASED BODYWORK
Unlike typical Western-type massages, this work doesn’t involve getting undressed, lying on a massage table, and having someone use lotion or oil to work out your tight and tired aches and pains. Instead, you lie fully clothed on a mat on the ground and I use my hands, feet, and knees, to apply techniques of: compression, stretching, pulling, and rocking to relieve tension, promote relaxation, and improve your flexibility.
Sometimes referred to as assisted yoga, Thai massage is focused on improving the flow of energy throughout your body. This is an amazing option for people who like sports massage or those who prefer deeper work, but it can also be modified and made super relaxing for anyone who would rather just relax and get some general tension worked out. Due to the time it takes to effectively do this type of treatment, I only offer mat Thai Style mat work in two and three hour session times - yes that's right - I offer THREE HOUR SESSIONS!!!
MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE
I am trained and certified in the Vodder Method of Manual Lymphatic Drainage. If you have never had an MLD session before, I highly recommend looking up the Vodder Technique so that you know what to expect from your session. There are many ways of doing MLD, and therapists are trained differently depending on what technique or method they use.
This is a clinical modality used for treating things like: swelling from injury or surgery, general bloating or swelling from lymphedema. Recent studies have shown this technique is also indicated for: migraines, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. This method is highly recommended by doctors pre and post surgical operation to aid in recovery as well as reduce scar tissue. It is also recommended for healthy people looking for detoxification or an immune system boost. Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a great option for those who need very light pressure or those who really just want to relax.
